Tom Holland Cast as Marvel’s Spider-Man
Our new Spider-Man is Tom Holland!
It seems as though the Marvel/Sony dispute is over and we have our new Spider-Man. According to ComicBook.com, Tom Holland has been selected to take on the role of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in the upcoming Marvel and Sony venture.
“Sony, Marvel, Kevin and I all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world,” Sony Executive Amy Pascal told Marvel.com With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Maybe it was Tom Holland’s recent video that he uploaded to Instagram that settled the dispute between casting choices or maybe he just seemed like the best compromise after Asa Butterfield was no longer in the running. In my opinion, after seeing those flips and dedication to the part, I could see how the studio executives could be swayed. Sure, they’ll probably have a stuntman doing the actual Spider-Man work but I’m sure that Tom Holland gained fan approval after showing off his moves!
For the age range they are looking at for the role of Peter Parker, I can see Holland playing the part. He has the slender physique of Spider-Man and also has other matching physical attributes. He’s still quite fresh when it comes to acting but he was deemed worthy enough to be featured in the critically acclaimed Tom Hardy film “Locke.”
Now with the decision being finalized and both Sony and Marvel ready to move forward, hopefully they can still get Tom Holland in the suit to make his appearance in Captain America: Civil War.
